Edamame has been recalled in 33 states due to listeria concerns, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced.
Advanced Fresh Concepts Franchise Corp., the fresh sushi supplier based in Rancho Dominguez, Calif., recalled its “Edamame – Soybeans in Pods” products dated between Jan. 3 and March 17 after random quality testing found potential listeria contamination.
The products are sold at retail sushi counters in grocery stores, cafeterias, and dining halls in 33 states, including Washington, D.C. To see if your state was affected by the recall, click here.
Symptoms of listeria include high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, stomach pain and diarrhea. Listeria can cause potentially fatal infections among young children, older adults, pregnant adults, as well as those with weakened immune systems. So far, the FDA said, customers have not yet reported any illnesses.
